Award Description
Farmers have always been innovative in how they run their business, adapt their machinery or look for partners to compete in the global economy.
To help spur this innovative spirit, the government has created the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence. Over the next five years, $2.5 million will be awarded to outstanding farm innovators.
Objectives
The objectives of the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence are:
- To recognize and encourage innovators in the agri-food sector
- To foster innovation in the agri-food sector that has an effect at the farm level
- To raise awareness about the importance of agri-food innovation, and its impact on the Ontario economy, particularly in the global market.
